![]() ![]() ![]() Among those titles are the multiple installments of Sonic Adventure as well as Sonic Heroes, a game I spent quite a lot of time playing when I was younger and would love to revisit on the Switch. ![]() While it’s unknown what games would be included, there’s definitely a few I’d like to see included. The rumor I’ve seen circulating the heaviest is that a 3D Sonic collection could be announced during the panel. On March 20th, SEGA will be hosting a Sonic panel at SXSW 2020, called Gotta Go Fast: The Official Sonic the Hedgehog Panel.Ī rumor I’ve seen circulating about this panel is that at least one, if not two, Sonic the Hedgehog collections are set to be announced. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Sonic 3D Blast, and Sonic Spinball) this still doesn’t constitute a deep dive into the number of games that Sonic has appeared in over the last thirty years. While a few more games can be found in the Genesis Classics release ( Dr. If you want to dive any deeper into Sonic gaming, the Nintendo Switch is not the system for you. The remaining three results are two SEGA Ages titles (presenting the first two games in the franchise) as well as Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The results are as follows: Sonic Mania, Sonic Forces, and Team Sonic Racing, making up the wholly original SEGA games. Searching for Sonic on the Switch eShop yields exactly six results. While the SEGA Classics Collection does feature a few Sonic games, the franchise is vastly underrepresented on modern hardware. In addition to the character collections, we’ve also seen released on the Switch such as the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection and even a SEGA Genesis Classics Collection. While Nintendo was ultimately the victor, with SEGA leaving the hardware market to focus on software, Sonic is still a much loved character to this day. During the console wars of the 80’s and 90’s, these two characters showed up in numerous games. When it comes to video game company mascots, the two most recognizable are Nintendo’s Mario and SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog. ![]()
